Limit of Domination

Produced at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to understand the difficulties of what was happening around us.

The Limit of Domination is a newspaper spread of the chapter “Distances of Man” from Edward T. Hall's The Hidden Dimension, an excerpt revolving around concepts of social and public distance.

To communicate distance, I utilized areas of white space to show the feeling of isolation. Furthermore, the outlined headings act to further the notion of separation as the lines emphasize sections of the letter rather than the form as a whole.

Additional elements incorporate experimentations in kerning to assist the imagery in displaying human distance. For example, the radiuses of each distance: public, social, personal, and intimate, are shown in a radial composition, with the individual letters showing the distance between two people in each of the categories.
