Art of the Card

A collection of title cards spanning from the 1920s to the 2010s.

To illustrate the extensive process of title card design, each page throughout the book is filled with sketched-out images of title cards to resemble the ideation phase in graphic design. These illustrations are influenced by Saul Bass’s process for the opening credits of the 1962 film, Walk on the Wild Side, which is also seen on the front cover.

A gradient is incorporated in the book to communicate the importance of Technicolor, an important turning point for both film and title card design.
